 Supporting sustainability and LEED certification for a major corporate and laboratory campus.

NeoGenomics' Global Headquarters is a large-scale corporate and laboratory facility located in Fort Myers, Florida.

The approximately 150,000-square-foot, $60 million development occupies a 14-acre site and brings together corporate offices and a state-of-the-art cancer diagnostics laboratory.

The headquarters includes two major buildings: an approximately 75,000-square-foot corporate office facility and an approximately 75,000-square-foot laboratory facility.

NeoGenomics completed the headquarters in 2021 and achieved LEED certification for the facility. From the outset, the team worked intentionally toward the project’s sustainability goals, integrating those considerations into the process from the beginning. Compliance was one part of the process, but the commitment went further, it was embedded in the way the project was approached. 

The project combines several highly specialized functions within one development.

Corporate offices, laboratory operations, administrative spaces, and support functions each have different operational and performance requirements.

For a project of this scale and complexity, sustainability goals need to be coordinated with the technical requirements of the building, the needs of its occupants, and the operational demands of a specialized laboratory environment.

LEED provided a framework for incorporating sustainability into the development while maintaining the functionality required by a global diagnostics company.

Community Development Reimagined provided sustainability consulting and LEED certification support for the project. CDR worked with the project team to support the project's sustainability objectives and guide the development through the LEED certification process.

CDR's role focused on helping connect the project's sustainability goals with the requirements of the LEED rating system and supporting the certification process through project coordination and documentation.

The completed facility achieved LEED certification.
